Ethiopia on the spot due to sexual violence in Tigray

ADDIS ABABA – The federal government of Ethiopia has once again been pointed out at a number of atrocities where human rights violations are at the center, something that could trigger endless wars from the international community.

In November 2020, the federal government deployed the Ethiopian national defense forces [ENDF] to the Tigray region, which had gone up again and led the humanitarian crisis in the region triggered by war.

An investigative work carried out by Chanel 4 now shows a gross violation of human rights, including sexual violence, violated by members of the security forces, particularly the Eritrean defense forces said to have been deployed in the region.

There are also allegations of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front [TPLF] is also involved in gross human rights violations, which could trigger tough questions about the situation in the porous region.

Thousands of women and children are said to have been raped during the process, within three months of mass atrocities that could go down in history in the Horn of Africa, which has strong problems ranging from human rights atrocities.

On the spot is Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who has been in power for a few years but whose administration has been exposed to a wide range of issues, including ethnic tensions in the region.

United Nations Security Council [UNSC] has called for an investigation into the matter, but the matter has not been agreed. The United States has often condemned such atrocities and called for thorough investigations.
