the disabled in Mpila in a seat to demand

In 2012, a weapons and ammunition depot from the Congolese army exploded in the Mpila district of Brazzaville. At least 115 people who became disabled were seriously injured. This Monday, June 28, they begin their second week with a hearing before the Ministry of Finance. They claim that their annuity is paid at 220,000 FCFA (335 euros) per person, which has not been paid since the beginning of the year.

as reported from Brazzaville, Loïcia Martial

Jusline Matondo lost his leg in the explosions and is now leaning on a crutch. She promised to return on Monday to demonstrate in the courtyard of the Ministry of Finance to assert what the state owes her.

“Since 2021 began, we have not received anything. Today it has been seven months in arrears. There are people who rent houses, others who buy drugs with this money. There are some who do not work and are only dependent on this annuity, ”regrets Mrs Matondo.

The young head of the family, currently 32, Alain Dombass, does not understand the government’s silence: “Our money has not yet been paid out. My concern is that I have children graduating. They were fired from the institution they visit. I do not work and I only have an annuity to meet my needs. We do not know how to do it, he regrets.

The protesters say the finance ministry has not yet contacted them. In his general political speech, Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso recently promised a dialogue to resolve social conflicts.
