In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the school calendar has changed

Originally scheduled for July 2, the end of the year can only occur on September 8, which is about two months late.

This end of the year was disrupted by the shutdowns due to measures to combat the spread of Covid-19.

But despite this extension, the program is not over. Thus, students get only one month of vacation instead of two. Cécile Tshiyombo, Secretary-General of the Congolese Teachers’ Union (SYECO), explains the reasons for this big difference.
