home stretch and observer training

In the Central African Republic, 118 constituencies are called to vote in the legislative elections on Sunday 14 March. This is the second round for 49 constituencies. The 69 other constituencies will vote again because they were prevented or the vote was canceled during the first round on 27 December. It is therefore the last straight line before this important election. The observers of the Arc-en-ciel network, the largest network of observers in the country, conducted a training / retraining in about 300 of its elements on Friday.

Giorgia is one of the observers of the Arc-en-ciel network. She is very motivated by this task and diligently follows the advice of the coach. “We have maps to observe around our polling station. The environment, see what happens if there are signs of a campaign when the office opens … We need to check all this and write it down. Also to know if the equipment is there … Our role is therefore to control all this, ”explains Giorgia, observer.

Sometimes tedious but important work, as Origine Bekoundi, coordinator of the observers of the Arc-en-ciel network, emphasizes. “The training consists of impregnating the short-term observers on the data collection grids so that they can adapt these grids so that on election day they can tell the important data we want and which will allow us to analyze and pass judgment. We on our side will do our job to ensure that the ballots cast in the ballot paper are taken into account and that the person elected is truly the person elected by the sovereign people ”.

About 1,500 observers from the Arc-en-ciel network will be deployed on Sunday in Bangui and in 7 prefectures in the country.
