In the center of Brazzaville, Ghislaine Mawata, a mother in her forties, walks without a mask. She recently visited a vaccination center against Covid-19. But after some thought, she refused to do so vaccinate.

“The vaccine does not convince us”

Since then, she has not set foot in the vaccination center again and she refuses to have her husband and their children vaccinated. Their neighbor Alain Mayala also hesitates: “We do not know if the vaccine is good or bad. That is why we hesitate to take the vaccine. No one is currently vaccinated at home. The disease exists, but the vaccine does not convince us, that is why we hesitate, he says.

In the face of the population’s reluctance, the authorities increase their communication. They recall the importance of vaccination to enable collective immunity and thus stop the pandemic.
