Félix Tshisekedi talks to Moïse Katumbi, Kabila’s FCC is looking for its way

Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi is continuing his consultations in Kinshasa to emerge from the crisis with his coalition partner, the pro-Kabila FCC. This Saturday afternoon, the head of state is expected to meet Moïse Katumbi, an opponent and former governor of Katanga. For his part, the former president’s party is trying to camp on the agreement with Felix Tshisekedi.

From our special correspondent in Kinshasa,

Moïse Katumbi, but also Gabriel Kyungu, President of UNAFEC and Chairman of the Board of the Railway Company (SNCC), will be received, as well as several representatives of his coalition Together for the Republic.

The former governor of Katanga said this on Friday, November 6, when he arrived to the Congolese capital: he came to listen, to find ways and means to save together Congo, for “the country is in needHe explained as he stepped off the plane. He then took a walk in Kinshasa: his convoy took five hours to reach his home.

Holy union seems to already exist among the militants: on Friday, November 6, we saw side by side activists of the Ensemble pour la République and the presidential party demanded Joseph Kabila’s resignation from power … as if he had never left the presidency.

The current Congolese head of state has meanwhile said that his coalition with his predecessor floundered: he can not govern.

With her 68 deputies, Moïse Katumbi can become one important ally. But can the opposition before the 2018 election become a majority? Not without the eruption of a hundred deputies from the Common Front of the Congo (FCC) by Joseph Kabila.

FCC uncompromising with the agreement with Tshisekedi

For its part, the FCC officially launched its pension on Saturday morning, November 7, outside the capital’s airport, at the site of Safari Beach. This is to find a common position ahead of the consultations launched by Félix Tshisekedi.

However, former President Joseph Kabila is not there today. For this first day, only a meeting was organized between the heads of political groups and associations of the FCC. There are certain personalities such as the Prime Minister or the President of the Senate. The President of the National Assembly was represented.

Initially, FCC Coordinator Nehemie Mwilanya said: The FCC will remain uncompromising in terms of respect for the Constitution and the agreement that binds it to Félix Tshisekedi and his coalition. This agreement provides for impunity for the previous regime, the percentages for the distribution of posts between the two allies and would prevent the current head of state from running in 2023. Joseph Kabila will certainly be there on Sunday, November 8, we promise.

Since the announcement of Félix Tshisekedi’s consultations, the FCC has mobilized its executives almost every day: first with consultations with Joseph Kabila in Kingakati. Then this retreat that was originally announced in the wake. In the end, almost a week of preparatory meetings passed and finally began on Saturday, November 7.

Get FCC executives in dialogue

So far, few FCC executives have come to Felix Tshisekedi’s consultation. Former Senate Speaker Leon Kengo wa Dondo was there last Friday. There is also Senator Lola Kisanga who had already announced that he was gathering for the head of state. Finally, some governors and deputies, all from Grand Ecuador, complain about the marginalization of their province.

The unofficial slogan of the FCC not to appear at the moment in these consultations was therefore quite respected.
