Manchester United 2-1 Brighton: Player Rating
Second-half goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood gave Manchester United a 2-1 comeback victory over Brighton at Old Trafford.
The visitors took a surprising 13-minute lead when Neal Maupay’s post was met by former United striker Danny Welbeck, who took advantage of a lucky deflection to strike home.
United failed to gather an answer before the break, with no shortage of lead in the final third despite enjoying a lot of possession, but they improved in the second half and leveled when a misplaced Joel Veltman pass allowed Bruno Fernandes to shoot in Rashford for the equalization.
Greenwood with the headline! ?
With less than ten minutes left, will the United kid stay on his toes to put United ahead?

Seven minutes from time, United found a winner when Paul Pogbas’ meandering volley was led home by Greenwood for his second Premier League goal of the season.

Dean Henderson (GK) – 6/10 – Not called to action for regular but was solid enough. Bad luck for the goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) – 6/10 – Lost Welbeck for Brighton’s opener. Was pretty good in the last third and created two scoring opportunities.
Victor Lindelof (CB) – 6/10 – Missed a headline that allowed Welbeck in for the opener. Nice other than that.
Harry Maguire (CB) – 7/10 – Did well to put Welbeck away a certain goal in the second half. Excellent in the air.
Luke Shaw (LB) – 6/10 – Too many strike and hope from the depths. One of his least effective screens at a time.

Fred (CM) – 7/10 – His long demise was always correct. Broke up the game effectively and almost scored with a deflected effort.
Paul Pogba (CM) – 7/10 – Was early for relaxed possession but improved as things progressed. Went through an impressive amount of defensive work and then got the happiest assistant of all time.
Bruno Fernandes (AM) – 7/10 – Uncharacteristically loose fitting during the first half. Improved after the break, Rashford slips in for the goal.

Mason Greenwood (RW) – 8/10 – Came close to scoring in the second half when his hard effort hit the post. Always be busy creating something and get your reward seven minutes from the time.
Edinson Cavani (ST) – 5/10 – Worked hard but was guilty of some sloppy passing. Pretty secluded too.
Marcus Rashford (LW) – 7/10 – Took his goal extremely well, a real poachers finish. Replace with 20 minutes left after a real challenge.
Daniel James – 5/10 – Be involved fairly regularly after getting on. His enthusiasm, however, resulted in some rash challenges.
Donny van de Beek – 6/10 – A short and forgetful cameo.
Scott McTominay – N / A

Robert Sanchez (GK) – 5/10 – Nothing to do during the first half. Was more busy after the break but could not have done much to save any of the goals.
Ben White (CB) – 5/10 – Shown an unnecessary yellow card in the second half to hold the ball. Then fluffed a goal clearance for United’s winner.
Lewis Dunk (CB) – 6/10 – A pillar of solidity at the heart of Seagull’s defense. Led the game with six distances and dominated flights.
Joel Veltman (CB) – 5/10 – Gave away the ball carelessly in the build-up to United’s equalizer. Somehow got away without a yellow card for a comically late challenge on Bruno Fernandes.
Lallana was full of energy | Clive Brunskill / Getty Images
Pascal Gross (RM) – 6/10 – Whipped in many deep intersections, but not many were so accurate.
Adam Lallana (CM) – 6 / 10- A busy screen in the middle. Did not get too many chances in advanced areas.
Yves BIssouma (CM) – 7/10 – Shaken by an early injury to play well. Was usually destructive, collected a lot of interceptions and used the ball well in possession.
Jakub Moder (LM) – 6/10 – Went close to doubling Brighton’s lead after the half-time battle. Couldn’t say it was just his fourth Premier League appearance of the season.
Leandro Trossard (AM) – 6/10 – Did not see a huge amount of the ball before it was replaced on the hour mark. Maybe a little sad after his international excursions.
Welbeck enjoyed his goal | Clive Brunskill / Getty Images
Neal Maupay (ST) – 7/10 – Unselfish when he ran the channels like a mad man and created Welbeck’s goal with a fine cross. Faded as things progressed.
Danny Welbeck (ST) – 7/10 – Come back to haunt his boyfriend club. Deserved credit for his smart move that created the goal. Should have had a second, though.

Alexis Mac Allister – 5/10 – A marginal number after entering the second half.
Steven Alzate – 5/10 – As above.
