Eddie Howe about to be appointed Celtic boss

Eddie Howe is perceived to be about to be appointed the new Celtic manager after the former Bournemouth manager “in principle” agreed to take over the club.

Howe has been out of work since leaving the Cherries in August 2020 following their relegation from the Premier League.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the 43-year-old, including Newcastle and Sheffield United, but the Scottish Sun reports that he is now about to take the reins at Celtic Park.

The report claims that the finer details of the deal have been ironed out and – preventing a late change of heart – Howe will sign a £ 2m a year deal with the recently sacked Scottish champions, with an official announcement to be made next week.

If the former Bournemouth boss is revealed as the new Celtic boss, it is clear he is keen to be joined by current Cherries chief technical officer Richard Hughes.

Howe recently emerged as a leader in Celtic work after months of speculation. Both Roy Keane and RB Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch have also been strongly linked to the role, with the latter expressing his pride in being named as a potential replacement for Neil Lennon.

The Celtic hierarchy has been looking for a new boss since Lennon was released from office in late February.

The Northern Irishman won back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles during his second spell with the Bhoys, although a disastrous title defense this season saw him leave the club with Celtic 18 points behind city rivals Rangers.

John Kennedy took the Celtic Park hotseat temporarily – with many reports suggesting the job was his to lose – but with just two draws and a win from his three challenges at the helm, the club has turned its attention elsewhere and it looks like they MAN.
