release of the vaccination marketing campaign in Mauritania

Mauritania opened its vaccination campaign against Covid-19 on Friday 27 March with the Chinese product Sinopharm. 50,000 doses of the vaccine are a donation from the Chinese government. The Mauritanian president started the operation and started with the capital.

as reported from Nouakchott, Salem Mejbour Salem

The first doses were inoculated to physicians and healthcare professionals in contact with coronavirus patients at the Nouakchott National Hospital Center. The health ministers specified that the priority necessarily goes to the care staff in all health structures in the country.

After the care staff, the vaccination campaign will agree to reach all regions in the country. The elderly and the sick with chronic diseases will be given priority, says Nedhirou Ould Hamed, Minister of Health. He also tried to reassure those most skeptical about the product’s reliability.

If China has sent 50,000 doses, Mauritania also expects 800,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the international Covax coalition. No date has yet been announced for this UK vaccine. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Mauritania has registered more than 17,700 cases of contamination and 447 deaths.
