Representatives of the opposition and civil society were received on Friday, July 9, by the Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Central African Presidency, Obed Namsio. Objective: to provoke disagreements over the future committee that will organize the republican dialogue in the country. On June 30, a presidential decree angering the organization of this committee angered the opposition.
It is above all a question of representativeness. For the opposition, the number of seats granted to power in place is too large compared to the others.
“A decree was issued by the President of the Republic to establish this committee, which is completely unbalanced and which gives pride to the President’s majority and its variations. We want a fair distribution. If there are five seats for the public authorities, there must be five for the democratic opposition, civil society and so on, “explains Crépin Mboli Goumba, president of the Fatherland party.
Specifically, he demands that a new decree be made. He also welcomes this meeting, although he remains cautious: “By the way, it should be noted and welcomed that we were received, we, the democratic opposition and part of civil society. The road is long, trust absent, do not anticipate anything … A single swallow does not make the spring. We will wait and we will judge the facts. ”
On the side of power, Albert Mokpème, spokesman for the presidency, believes that the meeting took place under good conditions: “We have heard the appeal they initiated in relation to the head of the distribution of posts. We must hand over the problem to the Head of State and I believe that an arbitration award will be made in order to see to what extent these allegations are met. “
This arbitration should be done quickly. According to him, President Touadéra wants to move forward in this file.
