When they read the decree, the opposition jumped when they discovered the names of four ministers, including the spokesman for the presidency and the director of the presidency, in the quotas reserved for public powers.
“We paid attention to senior officials, but not MCU politicians,” protested opponent Aurélien Simplice Zingas. The latter, in the presence of the Minister of Justice, mentioned in the latest report by UN experts, sees a “conflict of interest”. Vice President of the National Assembly leads the MCU delegation.
“Power has placed great caliber,” admits Gervais Lakosso of the Civil Society Working Group, “but in front of it there will be a respondent.” His partner, Crescent Beninga, known for his outspokenness, human rights activist Hyacinthe Longba Yaondo and trade unionist Noël Ramadan.
The debates promise to be fascinating. But for the opposition, that is not enough. “We had dismissed the grip of power through the door, it comes back through the window,” storms Deputy Zingas, who threatens to challenge certain personalities or even strike back.
The COD-2020 platform, which brings together the most important opposition parties, will meet tomorrow Monday to decide on the way forward.
