The Chadian Convention for the Protection of Human Rights has been investigating for years the existence of “secret prisons” of the National Security Agency (ANS). The organization claims to have already discovered ten of these houses. Most recently, a most banal house located in the 2nd arrondissement on the road to Farcha, opposite a large ministry (public works and infrastructure). CTDDH condemns a real death, the government talks about dungeons where prisoners are treated “very well”.
From this secret ANS prison, we can only see a pink wall from the street that separates nothing from the surrounding buildings according to CTDDH. But inside it is hell, explains Abbas Alhassan, one of the spokesmen for this organization, who describes “inhuman and cruel” conditions for those who are “kept secret in these dungeons”. An inmate may only have a small glass of water a day and a small amount of dry rice. They are not treated. When you are thrown there, it is over for you, it is as if you were thrown into the mouth of a wolf. There are people who are paralyzed, there are people who suffer from diabetes and some really die, ”he explains.
Among them, some have already been convicted, like Mahamat Timan Erdimi, arrested two years ago during the UFR rebel offensive, which he has had for ten years. Others accused of belonging to Bokko Haram, or even simple traders suspected of having sympathy for this group, have not yet been tried, some for three years.
For his part, the Chadian justice minister reacted strongly. He talks about “disinformation” and justifies their detention of ANS for “security” reasons. But Djimet Aribi is categorical, they are detained under very good conditions: “I tell you, these people are very well guarded, very well fed, very well cared for in the cells of the National Security Agency. And the prosecutor will check the detention situation of these people every week. ”
OK CHAD _HIS MORNING – HIS JUSTICE MINISTER
But the Chadian Convention for the Protection of Human Rights persists and signs that it requires the government to transfer prisoners to “legally recognized” prisons and to care for the sick.
