The 22-year-old appeared as a key player for the MLS side last year and presented in every regular season and playoff game when the Revs were knocked out in the semifinals by eventual champions Columbus Crew. He also chipped in with three goals and three assists.

As reported by MLS Multiplex, one of 90min’s sister sites, Buchanan’s performances have attracted interest from across the Atlantic. Sporting CP, which has a fantastic reputation for developing young players, is a side that sniffs. The Portuguese giants are keen on the player and even if no contact has been made, he is very much on their radar. There is also said to be interest from several clubs in the Premier League and Ligue 1.

Buchanan is comfortable on each wing, although he spent the majority of last season on the right. Revolution took him in the first round of the MLS Superdraft 2019 and he has been one of the success stories for that draft class.

He was also part of Canada’s U23 side which was only short in the qualifiers for this summer’s Olympics. He was hanging out in a group game against El Salvador last month before the Reds were eliminated by Mexico.

Despite the interest in him, Buchanan’s current focus will be on the upcoming MLS season 2021, which starts on April 17. Defending champion Columbus Crew will face stiff competition to retain his title, including from the forward’s own side.

Inter Miami, which has brought in former Premier League couples Ryan Shawcross and Kieran Gibbs, as well as the new boss Phil Neville, is also good, as is Los Angeles FC which has a strike pairing of Diego Rossi and Carlos Vela.
