Sudan: RSF Claims U.S. Shows Partiality by Imposing Sanctions on Its Leader

NAIROBI, Kenya – American Sanctions Spark Controversy with RSF

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are bristling against Uncle Sam’s decision to slap sanctions on their head honcho, saying the move reeks of favoritism. They’re demanding a rethink pronto.

This past Tuesday, the U.S. wielded its sanction hammer on General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, aka Hemedti, accusing him of leading a ruthless campaign that’s left a blood-soaked trail and millions on the run in Sudan over the last year and a half.

With the RSF aiming to expand their stomping grounds, these sanctions could really throw a wrench in their works, casting shadows on their credibility. They’re in a tug-of-war with the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), who hold the governmental reins.

An RSF spokesperson threw a curveball, likening America’s actions to past mistakes, “Many moons ago, they wrongly went after South Africa’s liberator, Nelson Mandela. Now they’re making the same blunder by targeting our leader, Hemedti.”

The endless bloodshed in Sudan is marked by ethnically charged chaos, widely pinned on the RSF. Reuters reveals that the outfit has gone on rampant looting sprees, with brutal violence and heinous acts against civilians.

Antony Blinken, the American top diplomat, lambasted the RSF and its cronies for their consistent attacks on innocents, elaborating that folks on the run from the skirmishes aren’t safe either, even as they desperately flee.

“We’ll not let these wicked acts go unanswered,” declared Blinken firmly.

The US has pulled the plug on Dagalo’s travel plans stateside, freezing his assets and those of his kin. Efforts to get the RSF and SAF to gab seem stuck in neutral, with the U.S. eager to iron things out.

A treasury memo declared, “As the big kahuna of the RSF, Hemedti is squarely accountable for the jarring and illicit deeds committed by his ranks.”

On top of that, seven RSF-linked firms in the UAE and one individual are in the financial doghouse, linked to weapons dealing for the RSF, Blinken noted.
