North Western State of Somalia’s Election Commission Gears Up for November Polls with Inauguration of Essential Committees

“The elections are on track and will unfold as planned,” declared Musa Hassan Yusuf, the chief of the Electoral Commission, as he took center stage during the oath-taking event.

The political battlefield is heating up with three heavyweight parties in the fray. The ruling Kulmiye party marches with the current President, Muse Bihi Abdi, at the helm. Meanwhile, the opposition’s torch is carried by Waddani, with Abdirahman Cirro leading the charge. Then there’s UCID, rallying behind their standard-bearer, Faisal Ali Warabe.

Beyond these seasoned contenders, the electorate faces decisions on seven ambitious political groups clamoring for official party recognition.

Only the top three, commanding a majority of the votes, will earn the coveted status of official parties, locking it in for the coming decade.

These forthcoming elections have captured widespread attention and stand as a potential turning point in North Western State of Somalia’s intricate political tapestry.
