Finnish Peace Ambassador Participates in Diplomatic Discussions in Djibouti
Finnish Peace Envoy Visits Djibouti
DJIBOUTI CITY, Djibouti (AXADLE) — Suldaan Said Ahmed, Finland’s Special Envoy for Peace Mediation in the Horn of Africa, jet-setted to Djibouti on Sunday. He huddled with key leaders to boost their cooperative mojo.
The envoy, rubbing elbows with Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, hammered on Finland and Djibouti joining forces for peace mediation.
“Though both Finland and Djibouti may be small on the map, they’ve got a significant role in peacekeeping, a mission more crucial than ever,” Said Ahmed expressed in a tweet on X (the artist formerly known as Twitter).
Adding a touch of diplomatic flair, the envoy delivered a personal letter from Finnish President Alexander Stubb to Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh. The letter’s details, however, are shrouded in mystery.
Tapped by Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on January 23, 2024, Said Ahmed’s mission is to bolster peace endeavors in the volatile Horn of Africa. This region is grappling with political rollercoaster rides, armed tussles, and a hellacious drought—the most gnarly in decades.
Finland’s history with the Horn is as deep as a whale’s belly, centering on stability and growth.
