In central Tigray, residents accuse the federal army and Eritrean soldiers of committing a bloodbath. An investigation revealed that at least 182 people were reportedly killed on February 10 in a dozen villages, including the town of Abi Adi, where three MSFs were murdered three days ago.

February 10 will be one of the darkest days in Guy’s history. Residents of the village accuse Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers of having executed at least 25 people in one day.
“It was fighting in the mountains,” said Zawdu Alaya, a witness to the massacre. Then hundreds of Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers arrived with their tanks and weapons. They went door to door and repeated that they wanted revenge. The Eritreans came into our home and said they needed my brothers to load their weapons into the trucks. They helped them, then the Eritreans shot them to death. The city was full of corpses. After several days, they rotted and the animals devoured them. I still have nightmares about it. ”
On the same day, the same macabre scenario would have repeated itself in the surrounding towns.
Four months later, the region remains marked. Dawita Hailesselassié lives in Abi Adi. It describes the shock wave of the population. “When they arrived, the soldiers robbed the banks. They have been closed for more than three months. So we have to go to Mekelle to get some money. But transport costs have quadrupled. We used to live well, we were happy. Today we can not even share a cup of coffee. We quarrel with each other, we are stressed, we have no more money, no more work and crime increases due to poverty. ”
In late May, the prosecutor announced that four soldiers had been convicted of other crimes. The February 10 massacre remains unpunished for the time being.
