Rangers welcome news of Ondrej Kudela’s ban on ten games

Rangers have welcomed the news that Ondrej Kudela has been banned from UEFA competitions for ten matches after being found guilty of racial abuse by Glen Kamara, although they intend to appeal the temporary suspensions to two of their players after the conflict in Ibrox last month.

The incident that occurred during Slavia Prague’s Europa League victory over Gers in March saw Kudela cover his mouth before whispering something in Kamara’s ear.

The Rangers man and his teammates reacted furiously to the remark and both player sets had to be restrained when the mood boiled again in the tunnel after the final whistle.

Despite Kamara’s denial of the allegations, Kudela has now been found guilty of racial abuse of the Finland international and will serve a ten-match ban from all UEFA competitions.

Pending an appeal, the penalty could exclude him from the rest of the season’s Europa League and Euro 2020 where he was expected to represent the Czech Republic.

Rangers midfielder Kamara was also banned for three games for his reaction to racial abuse that triggered a fracas between the two sides, while Kemar Roofe has been given a four-game ban for his challenge that caused Ondrej Kolar to be hit. skull.

Following the announcement of the ban, Rangers have taken to their official website to welcome the news of Kudla’s suspension, although they add that they intend to appeal the respective penalties to Kamara and Roofe.

“Rangers note UEFA’s disciplinary decision on our match against Slavia Prague in Ibrox on March 18,” the statement read.

“We welcome the suspension imposed on Ondrej Kudela. This not only confirms Glen Kamara’s evidence but underlines the seriousness of the comment, given that the number of games has been introduced by UEFA.

“Nevertheless, we believe that the sanctions against our two players are serious. We have written to UEFA and request written clarification on the basis that we intend to appeal the suspensions of both players.”

With Rangers already out of this season’s Europa League following their 16-year defeat to Slavia, Kamara’s ban could lead to him missing out on representing Finland at Euro 2020 this summer should his ban prove to be a failure.
