The Independent National Electoral Commission (Céni) announced the preliminary results of the legislative elections on Saturday night, Sunday 29 November. The People’s Movement for Progress, part of the re-elected President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, received 56 deputies. But it has no absolute majority, set at 64 seats. This means that he must rely on the other parties in the party alliance for the majority of the president.

President’s winner On 22 November, with 57.87% of the vote in the first round, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré saw his party, the People’s Movement for Progress, come first in the legislative election, the preliminary results of which were announced by Ceni.
The MPP received 56 deputies, in total not enough to have an absolute majority in the National Assembly. This is actually set at 64 deputies. President Kaboré’s party will therefore need to work to consolidate its alliance with the other member parties of the presidential alliance.
