These first doses will be made available to health professionals, people with comorbidities and candidates for Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, according to Professor Charlemagne Ouedraogo, Minister of Health.
“We will initially target healthcare staff and vulnerable people. Then you have reserved 20,000 doses for future pilgrims who are preparing to go on the pilgrimage to Mecca. Voluntary vaccination
The settlement representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Burkina Faso welcomed the arrival of these first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Professor Alimata Diarra-Nama assures the country of the support of his institution as part of this fight against Covid-19: “We are happy in advance that this vaccine will prevent other deaths as long as eligible individuals take their two doses. These vaccine doses will be relocated in the next few hours to secondary depots in the 13 health areas in the country. The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 starts on June 2 and the vaccination is voluntary, the Minister of Health insisted.
