Individual Arrested for Alleged Threat to Assassinate Donald Trump

A man from the United States, known online as “Mr. Satan,” has been formally charged with making threats to assassinate former President Donald Trump and other government officials, according to the latest announcement from the Department of Justice.

Shawn Monper, 32, was arrested and faces charges outlined in a federal complaint for allegedly “making threats to assault and murder” Trump as well as various officials, including those from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to the Department of Justice, the FBI acted upon an emergency tip about threatening content posted on YouTube by someone identifying as “Mr. Satan.” An investigation traced this individual’s online activity back to Monper’s residence.

Coincidentally, Monper resides in Butler, Pennsylvania, a location marked by a tragic incident last July, where a campaign rally for Trump was nearly interrupted by an assassination attempt.

On February 17, Monper posted a chilling message stating, “Nah, we just need to start killing people. Trump, Elon, all the heads of agencies Trump appointed, and anyone who stands in the way.” This comment mentions Trump’s advisor, Elon Musk, and reflects a deeper sense of aggression.

He continued, expressing a belief in a supposed coming upheaval, saying, “Remember, we are the majority, MAGA is a minority of the country, and by the time it’s time to make the move, they will be weakened, many will be crushed by these policies, and they will want revenge too. American Revolution 2.0,” as per the DOJ’s report.

Furthermore, on March 4, during a live-streamed event titled “Trump’s address to Congress,” he ominously stated, “I’m going to assassinate him myself,” according to the DOJ’s findings.

It’s worth noting that Butler Township witnessed a shooting last July that nearly cost Trump his life, where a would-be assassin’s bullet grazed him at an outdoor campaign rally, resulting in the tragic loss of one life and injuries to three others.

Attorney General Pam Bondi remarked, “Rest assured that whenever and wherever threats of assassination or mass violence occur, this Department of Justice will find, arrest, and prosecute the suspect to the fullest extent of the law and seek the maximum appropriate punishment.”

A hearing to determine Monper’s detention is slated for April 14.
