Former British prince Andrew arrested in UK, held in custody
Thames Valley Police are reported to have arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of misconduct in public office, and he is said to be in police custody. The development follows growing public scrutiny tied to documents related to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In information shared Wednesday morning, the force was cited as confirming an arrest connected to allegations raised after the recent release of files linked to Epstein. Axadle Times has not independently verified the arrest beyond those reports.

Images circulating online on Wednesday appeared to show unmarked police cars near Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, with plain-clothed officers gathered outside a residence associated with Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor. Axadle Times could not independently authenticate the images or confirm the timing of any police activity at the site.
Thames Valley Police previously said it was reviewing allegations that a woman was trafficked to the United Kingdom by Epstein to have a sexual encounter with Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor, as well as separate claims that he shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the U.K.’s trade envoy. No charges have been announced in connection with those reviews.
An arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office signals the opening of a formal criminal inquiry into whether a public role was abused for personal benefit or to the detriment of the public interest. In the U.K. system, an arrest does not necessarily lead to charges, and suspects are presumed innocent unless proved guilty in court.
The allegations tied to Epstein have reverberated around the world since court documents and other records began surfacing, drawing renewed attention to those within his social and professional circles. While the scope and provenance of the latest document releases vary, they have intensified calls for transparency and raised questions for law enforcement about potential criminal exposure beyond the United States.
Details about the precise timeline of the alleged misconduct, the scope of the investigation and next procedural steps were not immediately available. Police typically question a suspect under caution following arrest; after that, investigators can release the person under investigation, impose bail with conditions, or submit a file to prosecutors for charging advice.
Given the high public interest and the sensitivity of the claims, further official statements from Thames Valley Police or other U.K. authorities are likely to shape the next phase of the case. For now, the focus remains on the status of the reported arrest and on whether any of the ongoing lines of inquiry will result in criminal charges.
Axadle Times will continue to monitor developments. This story will be updated as more verified information becomes available.
