China Condemns US VP Vance for ‘Disrespectful and Uninformed’ Remarks About ‘Peasants’

China has expressed strong disapproval of U.S. Vice President JD Vance, labeling his comments as “ignorant and impolite.” This reaction followed his assertion that the United States borrows money from “Chinese peasants.”

“China’s stance on U.S.-China economic and trade relations has been clearly articulated,” remarked Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry.

“It is both surprising and disheartening to hear such uninformed and discourteous remarks from someone in a high-ranking position,” he added.

In the broader context, U.S. President Donald Trump has drastically reshaped the global economy through extensive tariffs, igniting concerns about an impending international recession. Notably, he has dismissed calls to moderate his aggressive trade strategies, even in light of significant market turmoil.

“We borrow money from Chinese peasants to purchase the goods that those very Chinese peasants produce,” expressed Vice President Vance. “This approach is not a pathway to economic prosperity. It does not facilitate low prices, nor does it foster good jobs in the United States.”

President Trump maintains that the tariffs will rejuvenate the U.S. manufacturing sector by incentivizing foreign companies to establish operations domestically, rather than sourcing products overseas.

Nevertheless, many economists cast doubt on this strategy, arguing that the tariffs lack a sound basis and may be misguided.
