Actor Kiefer Sutherland Arrested After Alleged Attack on Rideshare Driver

LOS ANGELES — Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver in Hollywood just after midnight Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police said the London-born Canadian actor entered a ride-share vehicle near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, where he allegedly “physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats.” The LAPD said the driver was not injured.

Sutherland was later released after posting a $50,000 (€42,915) bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2.

The Emmy Award winner is best known for portraying counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer in the Fox series 24 and President Tom Kirkman in the political drama Designated Survivor. He is the son of the late Canadian actor Donald Sutherland.

Sutherland previously served 48 days in jail in 2007 after being convicted of driving under the influence.

The LAPD did not release further details about the incident or the nature of the alleged threats. No additional information on potential charges was immediately available.
