Varane does not rush over the future
Raphael Varane will not be in a hurry to make a decision about his future, take a holiday after France’s exit from Euro 2020 and discuss with the new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti before deciding on the next move.
Varane is Manchester United’s top midfielder this summer (we’ve heard that before), although no agreement has been reached between players and club as the Frenchman is taking the time to consider his options.
The 28-year-old revealed earlier in the season that he intends to leave Real Madrid in search of a new challenge, and while Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked, it is United who have been reported to be the world. Cup winner’s preferred destination.
It was widely reported earlier on Thursday that a deal was actually nearing completion.
But according to L’Equipe (per Get French Football News), Varane is now taking his time over the next step in his career and will actually meet the new Real boss Ancelotti to discuss his future. He has one year left on his Real Madrid contract and if he decides to stay, he could become a club legend instead of Sergio Ramos.
The 28-year-old joined the club ten years ago from Lens and has since won every trophy available to him. His awards include three La Liga crowns, four Champions League titles and four World Cup triumphs in a Los Blancos career during which he has made 360 appearances.

However, it is reported that Varane may question his future in part due to the potential lack of competitiveness in Real’s next era. With the loss of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Ramos, and like Marcelo and Luka Modric during the twilight years of their careers, Los Blancos is entering a new, uncertain time.
In any case, it was the silverware that made the defender think of moving on to a new project in the first place. He has been in this position before, especially considering his future a couple of years ago before Zinedine Zidane was mentioned persuaded him to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A move away from Real is still on the cards but Varane will put business aside in the next few weeks while on holiday with his family and recovering from a disappointing Euro 2020 with France.
Regardless of his personal stance, the 28-year-old is now United’s top goal after Jadon Sancho’s arrival earlier this week. Although Get French Football News’ latest report suggests that no deal or offer has been made and following the confirmation of Sancho’s transfer of £ 73 million to Old Trafford, there are concerns about which price tag United may be willing to match.
