The Premier League Big Six draws attention to the British Super League including Celtic & Rangers
After their plans for a European Super League went up in smoke, the Premier League “Big Six” aims a little less and has started discussing plans for a British equivalent instead.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham all failed in their attempts to create their own competition and trample everyone who got in the way, but many club managers are still convinced that football needs some form of upheaval.

Late in 2020, the infamous Project Big Picture, which saw Liverpool and United’s pressure to reject the English football pyramid, was widely condemned, but according to The Sun, the duo remain on it and today discuss the idea of a British Super League instead.
Compared to the European version, the changes to this one would not be too drastic. The biggest discussion from the proposal is the idea of offering Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers a place in the division.
Talks are not progressing at all, but this proposal is expected to be supported by FIFA, UEFA and the British government, who all see that the mix of Celtic and Rangers in the Premier League week is a huge positive.

The two Scottish sides are also keen, as joining the competition obviously comes with a huge pay rise. The rest of Scotland’s top flight is also considered to be for, as it would give someone else a chance to win the league for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen won it all in 1985.
FIFA and UEFA are both open to the idea of shaking up domestic competitions to try to keep things interesting, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently acknowledging that he wants to see “new ideas” to take more teams to the next level.
In addition to including Celtic and Rangers, the idea of losing the Premier League down to 18 teams – an important part of Project Big Picture – remains on the table, as well as a top-four play for four seasons at the end of the season to decide the title winner, the system used in both rugby union and rugby league.

There are some good ideas and some bad ideas, but as with Project Big Picture, everything has to be agreed by representatives of all 20 Premier League clubs before the plans can be implemented.
The idea of shrinking the league to 18 teams will undoubtedly not go well among these sides towards the bottom half of the table, but even if that plan can be shot down, including Celtic and Rangers may have a little more support.
