Neymar is close to entering the last 12 months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and although talks of an extension really started to heat up a few months ago, everything has gone a bit since then.

The Brazilian has not yet put paper on paper for a new deal, which makes some fans sweat over the idea of losing Neymar for cheap this summer.

This fear was the subject of a report by Catalonia-based Diari ARA, who on Saturday claimed that Neymar had paused negotiations on a new deal because he is not sure PSG can grant him his desire to play with Lionel Messi again.
The 29-year-old is said to be hyper-focused on a reunion with his former Barcelona team-mate, but he now feels as if the Argentine will stay at the Camp Nou and is keen to force through a move to join Messi again.
The report even goes so far as to state that Neymar has reached out to Barcelona to inform them of his wish in the hope that the Catalan side will try to get him back this summer.

It was a huge curveball compared to previous reports about Neymar’s future, and it prompted an investigation by Telefoot.
The French withdrawal went to Twitter on Sunday to insist that an agreement before Neymar and PSG has existed for several weeks and Neymar has agreed to stay in Paris until 2026 on the same salary he currently earns.
The deal has not yet been signed and made official, but PSG officials are optimistic that things can soon be completed so that they can focus on securing the future of Kylian Mbappe, who is high on Real Madrid’s radar.

It seems that Neymar is closer to signing a new contract in Paris, and it is difficult to see him knocking on the idea that Barcelona will sign him when they are already the best part of 1 billion pounds in debt.
President Joan Laporta has his view on Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, and given the Norwegian mammoth prize of over £ 150 million is well known, Neymar certainly does not expect a return to Barcelona to appear anytime soon.
