Team GB player rating compared to Canada

Team GB remained at the top of their Olympic group and set up a quarter-final meeting with Australia after a late equalizer from Caroline Weir made them a 1-1 draw against Canada on Tuesday.

Hege Riise made four substitutions from the side that defeated Japan last time and the first half was pretty quiet. Team GB almost went to open the scoring when Rachel Daly was beaten through by Jill Scott, only to be denied a final ditch tackle.

After the break, the game came to life after Canada thrust its nose in front with the permission of Adriana Leon, who ended clinically on the back post.

Shortly after Weir almost equalized, an effort crashed from the crossbar and then the post. Ellen White – who did not start the game either – then went close and fired a snapshot just by. Five minutes from time, Team GB would equalize with Weir’s shot that flew past Stephanie Labbe thanks to a vicious deflection.

Stokes was energetic / Atsushi Tomura / Getty Images

Ellie Roebuck (GK) – 5/10 – Had to be rescued by Millie Bright after an almost fatal mistake in the second half. Besides, she did well.

Lucy Bronze (RB) – 6/10 – Far from his best. She committed some loose details in the final third and could have done better for the goal. Involved in the equalizer.

Millie Bright (CB) – 7/10 – Impressive. She was handsome in possession and did all the defensive things well. Also a threat from death games.

Leah Williamson (CB) – 7/10 – Read things mostly intelligently. Also played some investigations for the midfield.

Demi Stokes (LB) – 6/10 – Started strong, drove his side into the final third and caught the eye with some nice details and crosses. However, questions can be asked of her for the case.

Jill Scott (CM) – 6/10 – Started strong. Looked especially good forward, sometimes changed positions with Parris. Starts at the hour mark for a well-deserved rest.

Sophie Ingle (CM) – 6/10 – Went through a lot of work from the ball. In possession, she did not give much penetration in the last third.

Caroline Weir (CM) – 7/10 – Could not put her feet up and allowed a huge chance to beg during the first half. Made up for it by grabbing the equalizer, albeit with the help of a huge deflection.

Rachel Daly (RW) – 5/10 – Very involved in the first half and had Team GB’s best chance. However, she was careless at times. Hard to shake the feeling that she should have done more with the opportunities given to her.

Nikita Parris (ST) – 6/10 – A tireless screen but nothing really broke for her. Looked better after moving out to accommodate White.

Georgia Stanway (LW) – 5/10 – Some excellent substitutions with Stokes on the left. Something wasteful in possession sometimes.

Ellen White – 6/10 – England looked much better when she led the line, although the decision to rest her was smart.

Kim Little – 7/10 – Made an immediate impact, looks creative and causes Canada problems as soon as she came in.

Fran Kirby – 6/10 – Great to see her back after missing the two opening games. An encouraging came in 15 minutes.
