Pulisic excited by the Lukaku transfer
Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has said he is “excited” about the arrival of Romelu Lukaku, who has rejoined the Blues for a record £ 97.5m fee from Inter.
Chelsea had been looking for a new striker with an eye on the summer transfer window for several months and also considered Erling Haaland before it became clear that Lukaku was available.
After playing 15 times for Chelsea as a teenager, the Belgian returns to Stamford Bridge on the back of 64 goals in 95 games for Inter and has re-established himself as one of the best strikers in the world after losing his way towards the end of his spelling at Manchester United .
Chelsea fans are happy to have him back, with the existing squad wanting to play with him.
“Lukaku is a fantastic striker. He plays really well with his back to the goal, holds the ball, and he is a fantastic goal scorer, so I am very excited to play with him. It will be exciting times, Pulisic told the club’s official website over the weekend.
“We have a very good team with a lot of depth and it is a really exciting team. When you have a bunch of good players, it’s never a bad thing, so we’m really happy to see how this year goes. ”
90 minutes initially revealed already in May that Lukaku was the preferred choice for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, with coach Thomas Tuchel agreeing that the club should drive the player.
Lukaku later announced publicly that he intends to stay at Inter, which results in Chelsea weighing up a £ 150 million approach for Haaland to beat the Norwegian against the Norwegian before his release clause becomes active in 2022. But when Lukaku’s situation developed, he became the more viable choice.
The 28-year-old was unable to make his second Chelsea debut in the club’s victory over Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener due to quarantine restrictions. But he will be in line to play next weekend when the Blues travel across London to face Arsenal.
