Position for Man Utd & Real Madrid

Villarreal and Spain center-back Pau Torres has said he remains “completely calm” about his future despite rumors of transfer interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid this summer and is not prepared to even think about it until after Euro 2020.

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising defenders in the last two seasons and has now effectively replaced Sergio Ramos as Spain’s leading midfielder.

He helped Villarreal improve from 14th place to fifth place in La Liga 2019/20, his first year of top football, and was part of the side that won the Europa League 2021.

The rapid rise has not gone unnoticed and he has been a regular Spain start since the beginning of 2020, as well as a top goal in Manchester United’s well-publicized search for a midfielder. Real have also been strongly linked to his signature in Spain since last summer.

But a relaxed Torres himself does not seem to itch to move on yet. He will play in the Champions League next season as it is and insists that he is very happy with how it is at the club that he first joined at just five years old.

“I have a contract at Villarreal, I just won the first title for the club, we have qualified for the Champions League and that is something that excites me a lot,” he told Goal this week.

“Now I am focused on the euro. Then [UEFA] Super Cup and nice things [at Villarreal] is coming, so I’m completely calm, ”Torres added.

“I live in my hometown, very quiet, do beautiful things and fight for fantastic things with my hometown team. I am completely calm, right now I only have eyes for Euro 2020. “

In addition to Torres, both Manchester United and Real Madrid have also kept an eye on Sevilla star Jules Kounde, while the Premier League team in particular has considered such as Brighton’s Ben White, who now looks likely to join Arsenal, and Leicester’s Caglar Soyuncu. .
