Jose Mourinho has reiterated that Tottenham remain eager to make even more additions to their squad in this transfer window.
Spurs have so far brought in four new players, adding last week Real Madrid pair Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale to a squad already strengthened by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty.
Inter Milan Skriniar and Southampton Danny Ings have also been linked with the club in north London, with Mourinho targeting both a center-back and a central striker who could replace Harry Kane.
“The market is open, we have a good team,” Mourinho told reporters.
“Can we have a better group than we have now? Yes, we can. Is the club trying to build the balanced team that we all want? Yes, we are trying. Let’s see if that is possible.”
The team that tinkers can also include departures.
Sharing Allis’ Tottenham future looks bleak after he was left out of the squad to face Southampton at the weekend when he was pulled out at the break in the loss to Everton.
Mourinho excluded the English international on this occasion because he felt he had too many attacking options and he took the 24-year-old off Thursday for Kane shortly after Shkendija had equalized in their Europa League draw.
Tottenham went on to win 3-1, and although Mourinho did not nominate Alli for criticism, he lamented the whole team’s display before Kane’s introduction.
“The team did not play very well as a team,” said the Portuguese.
“It is difficult to individualize, it is difficult to say player A, B or C, when the reality is that the team did not play very well.
“In the last 30 minutes the team played well. We used the wings, we had obsession in the field, we had Harry who did not lose the ball, fell back and connected the game. The team improved a lot in the last 30 minutes.”

The Frenchman was taken off at the break against Southampton – when he started his first start since March – but lasted 90 minutes on Thursday and received Mourinho’s praise.
“He played very well,” Mourinho said of Ndombele.
“I do not have the data in my hands, but I imagine that our percentage of the ball was very high, and when it is high, he feels much more comfortable. But even without the ball he had a good recovery, duels, defensive transition , it was a very positive game from Tanguy, really happy.
“Can he play on Sunday? [against Newcastle United]? I’m not sure. We have to see how he reacts and recovers, but we have so many matches that if a player is not able to play in the next match, he will be able to play in the next . “
