Manchester City and Spurs fans participate in the Carabao Cup final
A limited number of fans will take part in the Carabao Cup final later this month between Tottenham and Manchester City.
The opportunity is being used as a pilot event as the government looks to try to get fans back to football stadiums before the restrictions on lock-in are lifted completely in June.
The Evening Standard reports that anyone wishing to take part in the collision between Spurs and City will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test before entering Wembley, while guidelines for social distancing will remain in place once in the ground.

The exact number of tickets available for the final has not yet been revealed, but it is expected that between 4000-8000 tickets will be sold as the government looks to test the effects of fans returning to the football pitch before increasing the number to 10,000 in May.
Another important aspect that the announcement failed to address was whether Manchester City fans can leave Manchester for the match.
The Brent Council, London’s authority covering Wembley, has confirmed that Leicester’s FA Cup semi-final with Southampton one week before the Carabao Cup final will also see fans in attendance, but tickets will only be awarded to local residents including health workers, Brent Council staff, teachers and students over 18 years.

Those who participate in the Carabao Cup final will be chosen from the same group of people along with a limited number of City and Spurs fans.
In a brief statement published by the Brent Council, they explained their reasoning for the groups’ choice and wrote: “These groups have been chosen because they are largely already on regular test regimes.”
Brent Council has already written to the residents asking them if they have any interest in participating in the matches, and anyone lucky enough to be selected to participate in any of the games will receive two match tickets.
Despite the announcement regarding Leicester’s FA Cup clash with Southampton, fans will not be allowed to participate in the second semi-final between Chelsea and Manchester City.
