The reigning champions fell 1-0 to Tottenham in their opener, but had no trouble eliminating their newly promoted opponents at the Etihad Stadium.
British record signing Grealish scored in an unconventional way 22 minutes into his home debut after the ill-fated goal from Tim Krul gave the hosts an early lead.
Aymeric Laporte added to the scorecard in the second half and substitutes Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez worsened the misery on Norwich, who suffered a second consecutive defeat upon returning to the forefront.
City had won their previous three home league games against Norwich with an aggregate score of 14-1 and were less than seven minutes ahead of this latest one-sided encounter.
Gabriel Jesus shot down Rodri’s diagonal pass and landed a low cross into the six-yard penalty area, Grant Hanley deflecting the ball against goalkeeper Krul and into the net.
Ferran Torres was denied a goal by VAR for Bernardo Silva’s trip to Milot Rashica in preparation, but Grealish scored soon after as Jesus’ cross hit his thigh and beat Krul.
Having played a part in those first two goals, Jesus almost scored one of his own at the start of the second half when he took a shot right next to it.
City’s third came nine minutes later when Laporte struck home after Norwich failed to manage a corner kick and the ball rebounded into the box.
Sterling was next to enter with a close range finish after being snapped up by the impressive Jesus, while Mahrez completed the scoring late, brilliantly controlling Ruben Dias’ long pass and tucking inside the post.
