Man Utd transfer news: Dortmund confirms sale of Sancho

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that winger Jadon Sancho will join Manchester United this summer.

United have been chasing Sancho for over a year, but after missing their signature last summer in a long-running transfer dispute, they have finally reached a £ 72.9 million deal to bring the 21-year-old to Old Trafford.

An agreement was reached on Wednesday, which sent the internet to excess, and Dortmund have now released a financial report (via DGAP) confirming that they expect to take in that amount of money by selling Sancho to United.

“Player Jadon Sancho is about to move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United,” the statement said. “Both the clubs and the player have reached an agreement.

“If the transfer is completed, Manchester United will pay BVB a fixed transfer fee of £ 72.9 million.

“The contract details must now be coordinated and documented. The formal processing of the transfer is also subject to the success of all necessary medical tests and examinations, a coordination procedure with the player’s previous club and proper and prompt processing in accordance with the provisions of the FIFA Transfer Matching System.

“With the implementation of this transfer business, management expects a positive effect on key figures for the financial year 2021/22 of approximately £ 48 million.”

United and Dortmund have agreed on a payment plan which means that the English side will hand over around £ 14.6 million every year for the next five years.

If all goes according to plan, Sancho is set to sign a five-year contract with United, who will also have the opportunity to extend it by another year.

Dortmund have looked at potential replacements for Sancho and have received tips for a handful of players, including Chelsea Callum Hudson-Odoi, Lille Jonathan Bamba and most recently PSV Eindhoven Noni Madueke.
