One of the hottest prospects in English football, Delap terrorized youth football last season for about 24 goals in 20 games, and he was rewarded with three games for Pep Guardiola’s senior side.

After the last two years of his contract, City were keen to tie Delap’s future just before any rumors began circulating, and the club went to their official website to confirm that the teenager has committed to the club until 2026.

“It’s obviously a huge achievement for me,” he said. “I’m so happy. I’ve been here now for two years and every day I’ve loved it. I’ve just loved the place and all the people. I can not wait to do even more.

“I have everything here. I have just fallen into place here and that is why I have committed my future here.

“There is always someone there to support you. They make you feel so welcome and you get the best coaching and the best players to play with you so it improves your game. ”

With its long-term future now sorted, City will be able to focus on what the near future means for Delap.

The 18-year-old had been expected to go on loan earlier this summer, with Stoke City among the sides chasing his signature – but there have been suggestions that Delap could stay with Guardiola’s first team and help in advance.

Under 23-year-old coach Brian Barry-Murphy recently suggested that Delap could take that role and told the Manchester Evening News: “Obviously his progress is for all to see and I guess he’s a very big part of the first team’s plans and that is how he develops in the future. “
