Kane will miss the initial Premier League clash

Harry Kane will not be in Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Manchester City on the first day of the Premier League season, as he is expected to work on his fitness after missing the majority of the pre-season.

The 28-year-old played the lead role in all of England’s Euro 2020 matches this summer and helped the three lions reach the final, where they were hit by a penalty kick in the heart of Italy.

The clinical expedition has since sprayed for a well-deserved break with his family and will return to the week towards the end of Tottenham’s preparations for the start of the new campaign, reports The Telegraph.

He, along with several other players, will be given some time to get back on track on his arrival, which means it is unlikely he will take part in the season’s opening game – whether for Spurs or Man City.

A summer of speculation has followed Kane throughout Euro 2020 after he admitted in an interview with Gary Neville that he must discuss his Spurs future with chairman Daniel Levy in his quest for trophies.

Spurs’ embarrassing leadership hunt and possible appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo has done little to change a possible transition, with the North London side still picking up pieces from Jose Mourinho’s disastrous time.

The club that has been most closely linked to a move for the England captain is Premier League champions Man City and they are convinced that they can secure their services in a deal that would probably be north of 100 million pounds.

Kane is desperate to win silver in his career, both as an individual and as part of a team, and he prefers to stay in England to do so, making the Etihad Stadium the best possible destination for his ambitions.

He is already on his way to becoming England’s top scorer, while he will also keep an eye on Alan Shearer’s record in the Premier League.

When the fixture list was drawn, many thought that Kane’s first match would be against his boys team with Man City, but the latest news means that we will not see the forward in any shirt for the season opener.
