Kane to join main Spurs training group amid Man City speculation, Nuno confirms
Harry Kane will join Tottenham’s main training group ahead of the Premier League’s clash against Wolves as speculation continues about his future, Nuno Espirito Santo has said.
Kane reportedly wanted to leave for Premier League champions Manchester City and the star striker was absent in Tottenham’s shock 1-0 first-leg loss to Pacos de Ferreira in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
The England international has stayed in England to improve his fitness and head coach Nuno has confirmed that Kane will join the main group on Friday ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wolves.
“He trained today. He trained with the group of players who remained in England,” Nuno told reporters after the Conference League loss.
“He’s trained well and he’s going to train tomorrow and when we get back he’ll join all the players and work as a group and Harry in it.”
Nuno made 11 changes after last Sunday’s Premier League win over City, with new signing Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil and Pierluigi Gollini in the lineup.
“I think [Pierluigi Gollini] had a good game, ”Nuno said. “He was stable and in the action he had to do, he did well. With the goal, it was one on one and it was difficult.
“[Cristian] Romero played a good, intense game and that’s what we want from our defenders, to be strong in duels. I think Bryan [Gil] started well, but it’s my responsibility. I think we still have to find him the right job and give him specific tasks. In this game he changed his position twice and that is not the best way to improve a player.
“We have to be patient with all the players because the Premier League. When a player changes countries, we have to realize that we have to support him. But honestly, I think with the quality and the talent of Romero, his adaptation will be very quick. “
