Jack Grealish on England’s victory over Germany in Euro 2020
Jack Grealish has admitted he was tempted to shoot before assisting Harry Kane’s goal in England’s 2-0 win over Germany.
Raheem Sterling also scored in the famous victory, which booked the Three Lions place in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.
Grealish did not start the game but was introduced in the second half. It did not take him long to get involved either. Four minutes from the time his cross found Kane unmarked in the box and the England skipper made no mistake, on his way past Manuel Neuer to secure the victory.
According to Grealish, however, it may have been different.
“When it opened at the end, when Luke gave me the ball, I would shoot! I saw H in the box so I obviously crossed it for him,” he told the BBC after the match via the Birmingham Post.
He added: “It has been difficult for H [Kane]. He is our most talked about player, probably our best player. It’s difficult because teams will double him up and try to get him out of the game. “

Grealish is a favorite among England supporters and once again there were songs throughout the game that urged Gareth Southgate to take him further. The Aston Villa man said he has received special attention during the tournament so far.
“I love it. It’s part of the game. If you talk about it, you’re obviously doing something good. I’m taking it in stride and it was an incredible feeling to have the fans sing my name. I’ve said before this is weird for I usually have these fans inviting me, he said.
“When they cheer on me and sing my song, there’s nothing more I want to do than pay them back with goals and assists. Hopefully my goal will come soon.”
