Harry Kane on “perfect afternoon”
Harry Kane has described England’s 2-0 victory over Germany as the “perfect afternoon” when Gareth Southgate’s men booked their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
The 27-year-old added Raheem Sterling’s initial strike to end his own goal drought with a late nod, as the Three Lions secured another goal in front of a 45,000-strong Wembley Stadium crowd on Tuesday.

And Kane told the BBC that the strong team performance combined with the positive result gave a “perfect afternoon”.
“I have always said as a striker that you just have to be ready for the next chance, ready for the next. Jack [Grealish] have put in a good cross and I was able to put it in. Great feeling, “said Kane.
“Every striker wants to score so it’s nice to get my first goal in this tournament and hopefully I can get a couple more before the end.

“Great day, great game. Hearing Wembley like this is a moment that none of us will ever forget. A fantastic performance, 2-0, another clean sheet, just the perfect afternoon.
“We will enjoy this but we know we’ve got another big one on Saturday now.”
England’s victory means Southgate and his team travel to Rome this week, where they will face Ukraine in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020. Kane believes beating Germany has given players more confidence, but warned his team-mates not to “shut down”.
“This will give us more confidence going forward,” Kane said.

“It does not get bigger than this. A knockout game against a great nation, at home when the pressure is on and we delivered.
“But we have to make sure we get it right on Saturday, even now. We can not turn off. We want to go all the way and will have a tough match in the future. ”
