Paraguay concluded their Copa America run with a trio of losses, the final one being a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Costa Rica on Tuesday.

Daniel Garnero, the coach, may face dismissal after a disheartening campaign.

Despite scoring in every group game this century, including 2015 and 2004, Paraguay wrapped up at the bottom this time.

It’s been nearly a century since they lost all their group matches.

Garnero admitted, the tourney was a flop.

He noted, “I am here at the behest of the association, and it’s their call if they see fit to replace me.”

Costa Rica, spearheaded by Francisco Calvo and young Josimar Alcocer, quickly surged 2-0.

Ramon Sosa’s brilliant goal revived Paraguay’s hopes momentarily.

However, Costa Rica’s defense remained impenetrable, extending their unbeaten streak against Paraguay to four games.

Their success wasn’t enough to advance them past the group stages, ending just behind Brazil.

Gustavo Alfaro, Costa Rica’s coach, found the group challenging. “This assembly included top contenders like Brazil and Colombia,” he commented.

He emphasized learning from the journey, despite the outcome.
