The Real Madrid president had been named president of the newly created Super League on Sunday and welcomed the new European competition in an interview late Monday. But as soon as the Super League seemed to be gaining momentum, fans, players, knowledgeable and managers got their feelings regarding the project heard.
Fan protests in particular are said to have led to the six English clubs – Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal – withdrawing from the competition on Tuesday, while Atletico Madrid and Inter followed on Wednesday.

Now with only Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan left, Florentino Perez apparently admitted that the Super League was not currently a start in an interview with El Laguero, who started the discussion by insisting that he was only president of Real Madrid:
“President of Real Madrid and the Super League? No, no … president of Real Madrid is good.”
Here are the key points made during the rest of the interview.

“We worked last night until 1 o’clock. We have worked for many years with this project. Have perhaps not explained it very well.
“I’m a little sad, disappointed. We’ve been working on this project for three years to fight the current economic situation in Spanish football. It’s easy to understand – you can not touch La Liga, so you’re looking for more money in the middle of the week Champions The league format is outdated. “

“I have never seen greater aggression from UEFA’s president and other presidents in the League, it was orchestrated, it surprised everyone. Never seen anything like it – insults, threats, as if we had killed someone, killed football.
“There was a campaign, completely manipulated, that we should end the national leagues. That we ended football, it was awful. But we worked for football to survive. “
“The problem is that they killed us the next day, with terrible aggression. We have made some mistakes for sure. But they knew what to do and were waiting for us. Those who do not want to lose their privileges. ”

“There was someone in the English six clubs who did not have much interest. It began to affect the others, there was fear. One of the English clubs was never really convinced. ”
“The English clubs tried to do something, but they were told they were killing football. But there is no other solution than the Super League. Or someone else invents something else.
“They are leaving because UEFA has put on a show, which surprised me. I do not want to go into that with the UEFA president, but he must be able to talk. It was as if we had dropped an atomic bomb. They did not let us explain, because they did not want anything to change. ”

“We are only working to save football after this pandemic. Madrid’s revenues fell from 900m to 600m this year. We have worked very hard on something that would satisfy everyone – and we expected such an answer. ”
“It cannot be that the six lose money in England and 14 make money. In Spain, the top three lose money, and the others make money. It can not continue – right now the rich are the ones losing money. ”
“This is a pyramid, and the money runs out, there would be money for everyone. If Nadal plays Federer, everyone watches, if Nadal plays number 80 in the world, no one sees. ”
“There are games that no one watches – the truth is that I struggle to watch them. In Spain, in England, in Italy. ”
“A big guy wears a big suit, a little guy wears a small suit. Everyone must be comfortable with the suit they are wearing. And the reality comes from the TV viewers’ numbers. This is not capricious, I’m just trying to help. ”

“Juventus and Milan have not left. Barca are thinking about it. Maybe we can change that a little – that the top four in England come in, the top four in Spain. The important thing is that the big teams play each other, so the children will watch football. ”
“Someone has to give us a different format, to make more money. As without making more money, all this will die.
“The contracts are signed by serious people, businessmen who know this world. We agreed last night to wait and try to explain better, and we are open to other ideas. ”
“The English Prime Minister said things, then the fans wanted … people wanted to hurt us. But when all this passes and we see reality, let’s see what happens. These clubs will lose millions of euros and can not do so, except those in England. ”
The founding clubs believed in this project. It’s not dead. We will continue to work. ”
