Enzo Zidane on trial with Inter Miami

Enzo Zidane, son of Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, is on trial with Major League Soccer kit Inter Miami.

The 26-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Segunda Division side Almeria in October last year after playing just three league games for the club.

ESPN reports that Zidane is now on trial with Inter Miami – the MLS side co-owned by David Beckham, a former Real team-mate of his father – although it is still unclear if he will be offered a contract.

Zidane is said to have trained with Inter Miami since the pre-season and looked set to sign for Moroccan base Wydad Casablanca last year, although the transfer failed to materialize.

The midfielder spent time at the Juventus academy as a youngster before moving to Real Madrid in 2004. Despite regular involvement with the reserve team, he failed to impress in his first line-up and left the 2017 Santiago Bernabeu with only a Copa del Rey appearance to his name.

Since then, he represented Alaves, Lausanne – Sport, Rayo Majadahonda and Aves before moving to Almeria in January 2020.

The youth career so far has seen him play 147 games and score 12 goals.

Zidane hopes to impress new Miami boss Phil Neville in an attempt to secure a contract with the club.

Since arriving at MLS earlier this year, former England female coach Neville has already secured former Manchester United defender Ryan Shawcross and former Arsenal man Kieran Gibbs.

Beckham previously insisted that Inter Miami would prove to be an attractive option for some of Europe’s biggest players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar, and he hopes that his club’s environment can attract star names to MLS in the near future.
