Emerging Talent Doak Awes with Inclusion in Early Scotland Euro 2024 Squad

Scotland has revealed a 28-man preliminary squad in preparation for upcoming friendlies against Gibraltar and Finland ahead of Euro 2024. Included in the squad is young Liverpool forward Ben Doak, alongside Stuart Armstrong and Che Adams who have fitness concerns.

Doak, at just 18 years old, has never played for the senior Scotland squad, but has seven caps at the under-21 level. Despite his limited experience, he could make his senior debut in the upcoming matches.

The squad will need to be trimmed by two players before their trip to Germany for the first game of the tournament on June 14. Southampton pair Armstrong and Adams are in despite injury worries.

Craig Gordon, a veteran goalkeeper, has made a comeback to the squad. The right wing-back position poses a challenge due to injuries, but Bristol City’s Ross McCrorie and Celtic’s James Forrest are options.

Scotland, historically struggling in the Euros, have shown promise in recent qualifying matches, snagging five wins in a tough group. The full 28-man squad includes a mix of experienced and young talents from various clubs.
