Emerson Palmieri made a one-season loan transfer from Chelsea to Lyon.
The Italian full-back left Rome for Stamford Bridge in January 2018 and made 71 appearances for the Blues in total.
However, opportunities proved scarce and Emerson, part of the squad that rose to Europa League glory in 2018-19, only made 33 Premier League appearances for Chelsea.
After helping Italy win Euro 2020 last month, Emerson has now opted for a new Ligue 1 challenge for this campaign.
Lyon has confirmed on its official website that an initial amount of € 500,000 has been paid with an additional potential of € 500,000 as a bonus, while a purchase option is included.
The start of the 2021-22 campaign has been difficult for Lyon, who took a point from their first two Ligue 1 games and were beaten 3-0 by Angers on Sunday.
