The Belgian stalwart concludes his chapter as the most decorated player for his country with the highest number of caps.

Vertonghen first donned the Belgian jersey in 2007, amassing 157 caps over his illustrious career.

His tenure included a notable journey to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals and a stint in the quarterfinals of Euro 2020. He also graced the pitch during the World Cup in Qatar.

Euro 2024 marked Vertonghen’s final international showcase, where Belgium was ousted in the last 16 by France this Monday.

Post Anderlecht, where his contract lapsed recently, Vertonghen is currently unattached, eyeing the upcoming 2024-25 season as a free agent.
