Arsenal set the summer transfer budget before the squad was rebuilt
Exclusive – Arsenal are prepared to spend almost 250 million pounds on at least five new signings this summer, giving manager Mikel Arteta the chance to rebuild the squad after an eighth place in the Premier League 2020/21 and turn the club’s fortune in place.
Arsenal will not have any European football next season due to their lowest league match in 25 years, but the Gunners will have to make wholesale changes in the transfer market.
90min has learned that Arsenal have been given the green light by the Kroenke family to spend almost a quarter of a billion on new faces ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
The redevelopment, which will be led by technical manager Edu, is aimed primarily at younger players who have the potential to improve and their added value. In fact, the development of players into more expensive assets is an important part of Kroenke’s willingness to spend big money.

Arsenal initially focus their search on a new goalkeeper, center-back, full-back and two central midfielders. But with the club also keen to move more existing players further, which can also help raise money, there may also be more.
Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, Brighton center-back Ben White, Norwich right-back Max Aarons and midfield trio Albert Sambi Lokonga, Yves Bissouma and James Maddison from Anderlecht, Brighton and Leicester respectively are all players the Gunners are interested in.
It is crucial that each of them is younger than 25 years and fits into the specific recruitment policy. The same was true of the previous goal Emi Buendia, 24, before joining Aston Villa instead.

90min has previously revealed that Arsenal want to sell 30-year-old striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer rather than offer him a new contract, which further highlights the club’s intention to lower the squad’s age and ensure players retain good potential sales value.
