Arsenal are back in talks with Sheffield United over a deal with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, although Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic has warned he is valued at £ 100m.
Mikel Arteta’s side has been linked with a goal for a goalkeeper for a few months now, initially aimed at Ajax stopper Andre Onana.
They then turned their attention to Ramsdale in recent weeks, although it seemed that Arsenal had backed out of the negotiations due to Sheffield United’s steep starting price.
But football.london reports that talks about Ramsdale are back, and that a deal worth £ 20m plus surcharge is close due to Blade’s need to change players before the transfer window closes.
However, United manager Jokanovic has told Sky Sports that he values the goalkeeper at 100 million pounds, and that although all interested clubs should preferably be prepared to stump big money, he understands the business side of the process.
“From when I signed the contract [to become manager], the club informed me that two players have the opportunity to leave the club, says Jokanovic at a press conference.
“I had this information from the club before I signed the contract and one is Aaron. Each of these two [Ramsdale and Sander Berge] could go without my permission.
“It is natural that he wants to be a Premier League player. I’m talking to him. He thinks it may be a good move for him but it is not a bad thing for him if he stays with us
“He is a talented English player and Arsenal are interested. If he is one of the league’s best players, his price is high.
“If you ask me if I want to sell him for 100 million pounds, I say no. But I understand the club’s business side. ”
