Barcelona star Alexia Putellas has received the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year Award 2020/21.
The membership captain was in excellent kind all season when she led Barcelona to the Primera Division, Champions League and Copa de la Reina de Futbol glory.

The workforce’s success made it a clear sweep of the rostrum for Barcelona. Alexia lined up in opposition to teammates Jenni Hermoso and Lieke Martens, however it was the midfielder who obtained the nod for the highest prize.
“I am very happy to receive the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year Award,” she informed the UEFA Awards. “First of all, I want to thank my teammates and the whole team who made it possible for us to have such a successful season.
“At the tip of the day, it’s the complete workforce and the membership that has received this award. It is such an achievement that so many Barcelona gamers are nominated for the award. Now we are going to go for extra.”
Alexia also took home the Midfielder of the Year award ahead of teammate Aitana Bonmati and Chelsea’s Ji So-yun, and coach Lluis Cortes held Barcelona’s fun game by taking home the Coach of the Year award and beat Chelsea’s Emma Hayes and Sweden’s Peter Gerhardsson.
“I need to thank UEFA and all of the jurors who thought I deserved this award. It is an honor and a pleasure,” said Cortes. “I even have labored in ladies’s soccer for a few years and I’m very completely satisfied to obtain this recognition.”
Barcelona’s Sandra Panos was named goalkeeper of the year ahead of Chelsea’s Ann-Katrin Berger and Lyon’s Christian Endler, while Hermoso received his recognition in the category Forward of the Year.
In defense, it was Irene Paredes who won the prize. The Spaniard spent the year with Paris Saint-Germain but is now on the books in Barcelona, so technically it is a clean sweep for Blaugrana.
