Amnesty International is concerned

A fairly large number of political opponents, but also of what can be called critical voices of power, who have been arrested or arrested, some for criminal organizations, others for financing terrorism, as is the case with Reckya Madougou, and others also in the name of a digital law passed in 2018. We can legitimately wonder about the underlying motives for these accusations ahead of a presidential election taking place in a particular climate, as you know, most opponents could not present themselves. When we see the seriousness, in particular, the accusations against Reckya Madougou, the financing of terrorism, which could potentially stay for very long months in prison in a legal situation with detention, which is not acceptable. On several occasions, some could not access their relatives. On several occasions, it has been reported to us that the discussions with the lawyers did not take place in a confidential environment, which is clearly contrary to international law. And it will be necessary for certain things to be clarified by the authorities about the legal situation and the content of these people’s files.
