In the event of an emergency, the Minister of the Interior announces the provision of a first batch of equipment that will help release water into the most affected areas. Minister Antoine Félix Abdoulaye Diome lists the battery of measures taken immediately:

“The first funds have begun to be mobilized, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Macky Sall. This consisted of distributing about fifty hydrocurators in the field, but this is just the beginning, as are 150 engine pumps. ”

After launching the Disaster Relief Plan (Orsec), the Senegalese authorities have been working since the weekend to carry out operations quickly. This first requires a comprehensive emergency analysis.

“In everything, and especially when it is so planned, it is necessary to evaluate, assess and take appropriate action,” the minister concluded.

After a meeting with the relevant services, the Minister of the Interior made a field visit to ask about the start of operations. Visits used by young people from the suburbs to show their dissatisfaction with the authorities.
